A lake of volcanic origin in the Italian region of Lazio, 32 km northwest of Rome. It is the second largest lake in the region and one of the major lakes of Italy.

Lake Bracciano is a crater lake in Italy. It covers 57.0 km². On average it is 23 m deep, and 160 m at its deepest point. Its surface lies 161 m above sea level.

The water

How warm is Lake Bracciano?

The water is warmest in August, around 26 °C at the surface, and coldest in February, around 9 °C. The surface averages 20 °C or more from June to September: comfortable for most swimmers.

It does not normally freeze in winter.

On the shore, afternoons reach 32 °C on average in August and 11 °C in January. The driest month is July (26 mm of rain), the wettest November (114 mm).
