Lake Enriquillo is a salt lake in Dominican Republic. It covers 228 km². On average it is 8.9 m deep, and 52 m at its deepest point. Its surface lies 42 m below sea level.

The water

How warm is Lake Enriquillo?

The water is warmest in September, around 30 °C at the surface, and coldest in January, around 26 °C. The surface averages 20 °C or more from January to December: comfortable for most swimmers.

It does not normally freeze in winter.

On the shore, afternoons reach 31 °C on average in August and 28 °C in December. The driest month is February (17 mm of rain), the wettest October (76 mm).
