How warm is Lake Matano?

The water is warmest in June, around 28 °C at the surface, and coldest in March, around 27 °C. The surface averages 20 °C or more from January to December: comfortable for most swimmers.

It does not normally freeze in winter.

On the shore, afternoons reach 28 °C on average in October and 26 °C in June. The driest month is September (144 mm of rain), the wettest March (330 mm).
