Lake Muhazi is a reservoir in Rwanda. It covers 31.2 km². On average it is 30 m deep, and 14 m at its deepest point. Its surface lies 1,445 m above sea level.

The water

How warm is Lake Muhazi?

The water is warmest in October, around 24 °C at the surface, and coldest in January, around 24 °C. The surface averages 20 °C or more from January to December: comfortable for most swimmers.

It does not normally freeze in winter.

On the shore, afternoons reach 27 °C on average in August and 25 °C in May. The driest month is July (26 mm of rain), the wettest April (167 mm).
