North Aral Sea is a salt lake in Kazakhstan. It covers 2,964 km². On average it is 27 m deep, and 42 m at its deepest point. Its surface lies 39 m above sea level.

The water
How warm is North Aral Sea?
The water is warmest in July, around 25 °C at the surface, and coldest in January, around 0 °C. The surface averages 20 °C or more from June to August: comfortable for most swimmers.
The lake usually freezes over for about 125 days a year, from around 20 November to 24 March.
On the shore, afternoons reach 32 °C on average in July and -8 °C in January. The driest month is September (5 mm of rain), the wettest March (20 mm).
