How warm is Lake Rwihinda?

The water is warmest in December, around 25 °C at the surface, and coldest in June, around 24 °C. The surface averages 20 °C or more from January to December: comfortable for most swimmers.

It does not normally freeze in winter.

On the shore, afternoons reach 28 °C on average in September and 25 °C in May. The driest month is July (20 mm of rain), the wettest November (191 mm).
